Image Resizer
Change the size of one picture or many. Set a width, a height or a percentage, then download them singly or as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
Lower quality makes a smaller file. 80 to 90 looks the same to most eyes.
JPG cannot be transparent, so see-through areas are filled with this colour.
Leave one box empty and the other is worked out to keep the shape. Fill both and each picture is shrunk to fit inside that box without stretching.
Cuts the edges off every picture so they all share this shape. The middle of each picture is kept. To choose exactly what to keep, use the image cropper.
Quality is lowered first (never below 50%), then the picture is made smaller until it fits. PNG files can only be made smaller by shrinking the picture. Pictures that already fit are not reduced any further.

How to resize a picture
- Drop one or more pictures onto the box, click it to choose them, or paste with Ctrl+V.
- Pick By pixels and type a width or height, or By percent to scale everything the same amount.
- Choose to keep each picture's format, or save them all as JPG, PNG or WebP. Lower the quality for a smaller file.
- Download each result, or all of them in a ZIP.
To change the file type without changing the size, use the image converter. Need an exact aspect ratio first? Try the aspect ratio calculator.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make an image under 100 KB (or 200 KB, or 1 MB)?โผ
Tick 'Limit the file size', type your number (for example 100) and choose KB or MB. The tool lowers the quality first, but never below 50%, then makes the picture smaller until the file fits, and tells you what it did. Common uses are online application forms, email attachments and websites that reject large uploads. Pictures that already fit are not reduced any further.
Which format gives the smallest file?โผ
For photos, WebP is usually smallest, then JPG, and PNG is by far the largest. PNG has no quality setting, so a size limit can only be met by making the picture smaller. If a form insists on a certain format, choose it in 'Save as', and the size limit applies to that format.
Can I crop all my pictures to the same shape?โผ
Yes. Under 'Crop to a shape' choose square, 4:5, 16:9 or your own ratio. Every picture is cut to that shape, keeping the middle, and then resized. This is handy for profile pictures, product photos and social media posts. To choose exactly which part of one picture to keep, use the image cropper.
How do I resize an image without losing quality?โผ
Drop the picture onto the box, type the width you want (the height is worked out for you) and download. Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp, especially because this tool shrinks in several gentle steps instead of one big jump. Making a picture bigger cannot add detail that was never there, so enlarged pictures look soft. That is why 'Never enlarge' is switched on by default.
How do I resize many pictures at once?โผ
Add them all together, set one size, and press Resize. Every picture gets the same treatment, and you can download them all in one ZIP file. When you give both a width and a height, each picture is shrunk to fit inside that box without stretching, so portrait and landscape photos both come out the right shape.
Will resizing distort my picture?โผ
No. The shape is always kept. If you fill in only a width or only a height, the other side is calculated. If you fill in both, the picture is scaled to fit inside that size without squashing or stretching it, so the result can be smaller than the box in one direction.
How can I make the file size smaller?โผ
Two things reduce file size: fewer pixels and lower quality. Reducing the width and height usually has the biggest effect. For JPG and WebP you can also lower the Quality slider. Saving as JPG or WebP instead of PNG makes photo files much smaller. The tool shows the new size of each picture, so you can try settings and compare.
What sizes do social media and email need?โผ
The preset buttons give common starting points: 1080 pixels wide for Instagram, 800 wide for email, 1920 for Full HD screens and 3840 for 4K. Each platform changes its rules from time to time, and some crop pictures to fixed shapes, so check the platform's current guidance for exact requirements.
Does it keep PNG transparency?โผ
Yes, when you save as PNG or WebP. JPG cannot be transparent, so if you choose JPG, see-through areas are filled with white by default, or any colour you pick.
Are my pictures uploaded?โผ
No. The resizing happens inside your browser on your own device. Your pictures are never sent to a server, which makes it safe for photos of people, documents and ID.
Is the photo's location data kept?โผ
No. Resizing draws a new picture, so hidden information such as GPS location, camera details and the date taken is not copied into the resized file. The picture is still turned the right way up.
