Online Timer
A clear countdown timer with a proper alarm. Run several at once, go full screen, and it carries on if you refresh.
Use the bookmark link to save this exact timer. Paste it into your browser's bookmarks (for example "Tea, 4 min" or "Study, 25 min") and it opens ready to start. You can also send it to someone.
Alarm and screen
Shortcuts: Space start or pause, R reset, Esc leave full screen.
Keeps real time
Many web timers simply count ticks, so a busy or background tab makes them run slow. This one checks your device's clock instead, so the end time stays correct.
Survives a refresh
Refresh the page, or let your phone's browser reclaim the tab, and a running timer carries on. If time ran out while you were away, it tells you how long ago.
Private and ad-light
No account, no sign-up, nothing sent anywhere. Your labels and settings stay on your own device.
How to use the online timer
- Pick a preset such as 5m, or type hours, minutes and seconds.
- Press Start. The first press also enables sound in your browser.
- Use +1 min to add time while it runs, or as a snooze when the alarm sounds.
- Tap the full-screen button for huge digits you can read across a room.
- Need several? Add another timer and give each one a label.
Handy for cooking, study sessions, workouts, presentations and meetings. If you need to count up instead of down, use theonline stopwatch. Planning across cities? Try the time zone converter, or work out the gap between two dates with the date calculator.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I set a countdown timer?โผ
Type hours, minutes and seconds into the boxes, or tap a preset such as 5m or 10m, then press Start. The big display counts down and an alarm sounds at zero. Entering more than 59 seconds or minutes is fine: 90 seconds becomes 1 minute 30 seconds.
Will the alarm still go off if I switch tabs or lock my phone?โผ
Switching to another tab or window is fine. The timer works from the real clock rather than counting ticks, so a busy or background tab cannot make it run slow. Fully locking a phone is different: some phones suspend the browser, and then no web page can promise to ring. That is why 'Keep screen on' is switched on by default while a timer runs. For anything important, do a short test run first.
Why can't I hear the alarm?โผ
Browsers only allow sound after you have clicked or tapped something, so press Start (or Test sound) once on this page. Then check your device volume, your phone's silent switch, and the volume slider under 'Alarm and screen'. The tab title also flashes when time is up, and phones vibrate where the browser allows it.
Can I run more than one timer at once?โผ
Yes. Use 'Add another timer' to run up to six side by side, each with its own label, such as pasta, laundry and a meeting. Each one rings separately, and the browser tab title shows whichever is due next.
Can I save or share a timer?โผ
Press 'Copy bookmark link' on a timer to get a web address that opens with that time already set, for example ?t=300 for five minutes. Bookmark it for a timer you use daily, or send it to someone. If you refresh the page, or your phone's browser reclaims the tab, a running timer carries on from where it should be.
Is this timer accurate?โผ
It compares against your device's clock every tenth of a second and shows whole seconds, so it matches a wall clock to within a fraction of a second. If the tab is throttled in the background, the alarm may sound up to about a second late, but the total time never drifts.
Does this timer need an account or send my data anywhere?โผ
No account and no uploads. The timer runs entirely in your browser. Your labels and settings are stored only on your own device so they survive a refresh, and nothing is sent to a server.
