JPG to PNG Converter
Turn JPG and JPEG pictures into PNG files. Lossless output, batch conversion and ZIP download. Nothing is uploaded.
Lower quality makes a smaller file. 80 to 90 looks the same to most eyes.
JPG cannot be transparent, so see-through areas are filled with this colour.
Leave one box empty and the other is worked out to keep the shape. Fill both and each picture is shrunk to fit inside that box without stretching.
Cuts the edges off every picture so they all share this shape. The middle of each picture is kept. To choose exactly what to keep, use the image cropper.
Quality is lowered first (never below 50%), then the picture is made smaller until it fits. PNG files can only be made smaller by shrinking the picture. Pictures that already fit are not reduced any further.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert a JPG to PNG?โผ
Drop your JPG or JPEG files onto the box. PNG is already selected, so the converted file is ready immediately. Press Download, or add many files and download them all as a ZIP.
Does converting JPG to PNG improve the quality?โผ
No. A JPG has already lost some detail when it was saved, and PNG cannot bring that back. What PNG does is stop any further loss: the PNG is an exact copy of the pixels in your JPG, so you can edit and re-save it without it getting worse each time.
Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG?โผ
PNG stores every pixel exactly, while JPG throws away detail to save space. For photos a PNG is often three to ten times larger. That is normal. If size matters more than exactness, stay with JPG or choose WebP.
Will my PNG have a transparent background?โผ
Not automatically. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG copy has a solid background. To cut out a background you would need a photo editor, after which PNG is the right format to save the result in.
When should I use PNG instead of JPG?โผ
Use PNG for screenshots, logos, diagrams, text and anything with sharp edges or flat colours, and when you plan to edit the file several times. Use JPG for photographs where a small file is the priority.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?โผ
No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device, so photos, scans and screenshots stay private.
