How do I pick a random number between two numbers?▼
Type the lowest number in 'From' and the highest in 'To', then press Generate. Both ends are included, so 1 to 10 can return 1 and can return 10. Leave 'How many' at 1 for a single number, or raise it to get a list.
How do I generate random numbers with no repeats?▼
Choose 'No repeats' and set how many numbers you want. Every number in the list is different, like drawing numbered tickets from a hat and not putting them back. This works only if the range has enough different numbers, so asking for 20 different numbers between 1 and 10 gives a clear message instead of a wrong answer.
Are these numbers truly random?▼
They come from your browser's cryptographically secure random generator, the same source used to make passwords and encryption keys, not the weaker Math.random(). We also remove the bias that a simple 'remainder' method causes, so every number in your range is exactly as likely as any other.
Can I generate random decimals?▼
Yes. Choose Decimals, pick how many decimal places you want (0 to 10), and every value is a random point between your From and To numbers. For example, 0 to 1 with 4 places might give 0.7316.
What is the biggest range I can use?▼
Whole numbers can be anywhere between -9,007,199,254,740,991 and 9,007,199,254,740,991, which is the largest range that web browsers can handle exactly. You can ask for up to 10,000 numbers at once.
Can I use this to roll dice or pick a winner?▼
Yes. Press the 'Dice (1 to 6)' preset to roll one or more dice, or set the range to the number of entrants for a giveaway draw. Use 'No repeats' when each entrant can only win once. For a yes-or-no decision try the coin flip, and for picking from a list of names, put the numbered list in order and draw the numbers.
